Contribute to Perlcast
Contribute to Perlcast
There are many ways to contribute to Perlcast. Whether you want to talk, click, splice, read, or type, there is typically something that needs to be done.
Here are some of the areas that we are looking for help with now:
- Transcribers
- Audio editors
- Content Aggregators
- Guest Speakers
- Interviews
- Musical Talent
- Round Table Regulars
Transcribers
One of the most common requests that I receive is for transcripts for Perlcast, especially the interviews. At first I was wondering why, but it turns out that there are people out there actually listening to Perlcast to help them learn English… just imagine, a bunch of foreign-southern sounding accents :)
Currently, I\’m working on setting up a wiki that can be used to collaboratively transcribe Perlcast episodes. If you would like to help out with this effort, please contact me and I\’ll send you a link to get started.
Audio Editors
I have a lot of audio content recorded and anticipate having a lot more start coming in soon. It can take a while to listen through an interview or presentation and cut out the lulls and awkward spots. If you have any audio editing skills or if you just want to learn, this is an area that would really be helpful.
Content Aggregators
Right now, most of the Perlcast Perl News Summary content comes from Perl.com, Use Perl, and Google News. Soon, Perlcast will feature select journals from Use Perl and the top posts on Perl Monks. Still, there are many other areas where Perlish information appears that I don\’t see. If you want to help dredge the web for Perl information, this would be a great help. Some things in particular that I\’m looking for include a summary of the Perl 6 Summary from Perl.com and an up-to-date list of Perl security warnings.
Guest Speakers
Have something interesting to say? Want to give a tutorial or opinion piece about Perl? Audio submissions are always welcome.
Interviews
Want to be interviewed on Perlcast? Just because I haven\’t contacted you about an interview doesn\’t mean that I don\’t want you on the show. Please let me know if you are doing something interesting with or pertaining to Perl, I\’d love to have you on the cast.
Musical Talent
The Perlcast intro has slipped from a different song every episode to a short track at the start of each episode. Still, I don\’t feel that this is a great sound for the show. If you have musical talent and would like to contribute a sound/intro/outro/whatever for Perlcast, please send me some audio.
Round Table Regulars
Perlcast is wanting to start a weekly or monthly roundtable discussion about Perl and what is going on with Perl. To do this, we need to get some regulars that chat well together. If your interested, please let me know.
